LPL Solar is a self-perform construction firm focused on building large-scale solar projects for utility companies and Independent Power Producers (IPPs). Our management team of industry leaders and experts have a combined experience of 84GW of solar experience over 650+ projects in twenty-one states and the Canadian province of Ontario.


As a Project Accountant you will support the fiscal management of construction projects from initiation through closeout. This role works closely with project teams to ensure accurate cost tracking, billing, forecasting, and compliance with internal controls. The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in cost accounting, mindfulness, and an initiative-taking mindset in supporting project execution.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and maintain the fiscal health of assigned projects through job cost tracking, contract compliance, and budget analysis.
  • Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors to ensure timely and accurate processing of subcontractor invoices, purchase orders, and change orders.
  • Prepare monthly owner billings and ensure proper lien waivers, insurance documentation, and contract terms are met.
  • Assist in project forecasts, revenue recognition, and cost-to-complete analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies, GAAP standards, and project-specific requirements.
  • Track committed costs, open POs, and pending invoices to support accurate cost projections.
  • Review and reconcile job cost ledgers, retainage, and project accruals in coordination with the corporate accounting team.
  • Provide financial support for project audits, internal reviews, and client reporting.
  • Maintain proper documentation and digital records in project management and ERP systems (e.g., Procore, Sage 300 CRE).
Requirements:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field. 
  • 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within the commercial, energy, civil or construction industry. 
  • Proficiency in construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 300 CRE, Procore, or similar). 
  • Sound understanding of job cost accounting, AIA billing, and project budget forecasting. 
  • Ability to analyze data and provide insights into project teams and senior management.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.  Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines. 
  • Knowledge of lien laws, tax compliance, and subcontractor requirements is a plus.
